Nano – Tata’s small car – Boon or bane

To Tata Inc,

You have just introduced the world’s cheapest car.
Yes its India’s pride. You have made a revolution in the car industry.
Your dream product is really a special gift to the middle class Indians.
In spite of increasing input costs you have stood by your promise of 1 Lakh Rupees.
I salute you.

BUT

The already congested roads in the Indian metros will surely witness an explosive growth of car population.
Your competitors are bound to follow your business logic..,
Are you doing good to our country’s poor roads?
Should the morality of daily office goers be injured with increased journey time?

Why the car makers are making the traffic poorer ?

This same country had well planned cities called Harappa and Mohenjodaro that too 4000 years ago which had even a well planned drainage.
But today our country is heading for a more heart burn to the road users.
Why not the country make the roads richer ?

    Bane.

The “people’s car” is a wonderful example of India’s mid-20st Century mindset and its squandered chance at 21st Century development. My short essay on this can be read at http://memestreamblog.wordpress.com/2007/10/12/india-going-nowhere-fast/.

yes, i agree… world would be more polluted than today..

  3. BOB Says:

MR/gay toyotaz & mbjesq, seems like you just come out of a neuro center an give this comment. Your brain is to think, Utilize it.. What do you mean by pollution… Yes, if one use a car, % of pollution is there but, whats the so big deal with NANO.. What abt the other cars, So you mean to say,, only the higher class people who are affordable to costlier cars can pollute the air but not the lower people.

You are useless to be born on this earth.. Dammit.. KIck your..

    @ BOB
yes u r right, big cars r polluting too,

i m quite surprised on the good, reliable and highly punctual trains of Japan, they don’t think of travelling on a costly and polluting car..

In India the lack of a good public transport system is the reason behind all this (Nano innovation and chaotic metro traffic

India’s development is such that the highest population is concentrated in metros but the development of roads to cater to the exponential growth of vehicles is taking the back seats.

Indians are the fore runners in innovation, the world is seeing it with an awe –
Cheapest car in the world is not an easy task, an Indian has achieved it, a feather to we Indians.
but on the other side people travelling in the costliest cars still have to experience heart burn on the costliest Indian cities – reason – poorest foresight of infrastructure planning…

Costliest cars here can that travel at more that 130 kmph
but the poor roads can’t support more than 60 kmph,
this is costing on precious lives due to increase in accidents.

    what a pity!!

See every coin has its two sides. So we should aslo praise the postive sides like……
(First)Indain man can afford a car and can bring a first car at his home.
(second) Due to over growing of small cars, Government has to take certain steps for the development of the infrastructure.
(third) It will give more mileage as well as low maintainence as compared to big cars

NOW IF WE TALK ABOUT BANE OF smaLL CARS THen………
    (1) Pollution increases.
    (2) The small cars do not have air bags, so during the time of accidents, its not safe.
    (3) Usage of public transport will automatically reduced. Which is not at all good

India’s maximum expenditure is on imports of oil products than other products. Increasing rate of traffic will demand more petrol n diesel n due to this import will be incresed n it’s not good 4 our country.
